Our County Councillor, Sarah Hohler, has very generously funded a mobile SID for Offham. This will be installed over the summer, ready for operation once the enhancement plan works are finished. It will involve three poles being installed, one at the eastern end of the village and two at the western end. The SID, which is battery operated, can then be mounted on the poles for a few days at a time and moved around the village to deter speeding. The device stores traffic data, so will also be very useful for monitoring generally.
This device will be used instead of the reintroduction of the traditional ‘speed-watch’ programme; however, we will still need volunteers to help manage the SID, so please get in touch, if you are prepared to help and go onto a helpers rota.
