A traditional Burns Supper to be held in the village hall on 28 January 2017.
It will be the traditional 3 course Burns Supper, and the emphasis will be on the poetry, songs and stories of Robert Burns and his life. It’s not a ceilidh, so there’s no formal dancing. However, should people want to get up and have a wee dance towards the end of the evening then I don’t think anyone would complain. we can sort something out. It’s a celebration of the life and works of Burns after all, and he was a man who enjoyed a wee hoolie!
We will have a Piper ( of course), a singer and a three piece band to sing traditional songs. There will also be speakers to recite verse and stories, Stewart Betts has kindly agreed the give the Selkirk Grace before the meal and we will have all the traditional elements of a Burns Supper including the Immortal Memory, the Toast to the Lassies, the Reply from the Lassies and the Piping in and address to the Haggis. And of course, there will be Whisky provided for the table!
It should be a good evening
